Jacob Williman poetry album, 1838-1847.

Commercially produced album issued with engravings contains poems, drawings, and loose clippings collected by Jacob Williman and perhaps before him by Andrew Moffett. The volume includes poetry by the four children of Andrew Moffett (1793-1849): Andrew Moffett (1822-1838), George Hall Moffett (1829-1875), Mary W. Moffett, and M.H.A. [Margaret Hall Moffett Adger]; and by Mrs. [Lydia Howard] Sigourney (1891-1865). One poem is entitled "The Loss of Friends" by Montgomery and includes a note "Andrew Moffett 1837 or '38 - When he departed in August." A number of the poems concern grieving and death. Pencil drawings are of a sailing ship. Clippings include the announcement of the marriage of Janet Moffett to Ensign Elliott McFarland Moore (1926), the death notice of Margaret Moffett (1912), and a poem by Robert Morris about grief.
